KARACHI: The roads in the mega-metropolis city here this morning remain deserted, the traffic is almost negligible, while the contingents of Rangers and police are staging flag march and even the traffic police have been armed for meeting any untoward incident, following two years of the May 12 tragic incidents and Sindh government declaring it a public holiday for citizens solemnly mourning the occasion.
Official sources said that 5000 additional forces have been requisitioned. Some petrol pumps were seen shut, while the government and private employees are seen making long queues on the bus stands waiting for transports, which is thin and scarce.
It may be recalled that the lawyers community all across the country observing black day.
On the other hand, Awami National Party leader, Shahi Syed has appealed to the workers that they should hoist black flags on their rooftops.
Earlier, the government of Sindh had decided to deal with the miscreants with iron hands in a meeting held yesterday with the chief mister in the chair, while Sindh home minister, Dr. Zulfiqar Mirza, Sindh home secretary, I.G. Sindh, D.G. Rangers, Karachi CCPO and other high officials attended the meeting.
